Meditation – 5th Ladder of the Spirit

Meditation is thinking deeply on something, it can either be a subject matter or a situation. Philippians 1:8 contains what God asked us to think about but you need to know that meditation isn’t thinking but dwelling on a particular topic.
Meditation is processing in your secret a word or revelation you have received. You need to receive a word before you can mediate.
Joshua 1:8 “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” NIV
Intelligent and highly successful people are great thinkers.
You talk the word, which means what you say depends on what happens to you. What you have thought and meditated on is what you should say which will bring good success.
In Psalm 1:1-3, we understand that it is the word you have meditated on that brings you good success, so if you talk more about sickness you will eventually fall sick. It’s not what you do that makes you who you are, it is you. Your meditation defines you. What you meditate upon for a long time will come on you.
Types of Meditation
There are two types of meditation, namely:
To Mutter: this is speaking gently or underneath your breathe to yourself. It also means repeating the same thing over and over to yourself.
To Roar: this is to suddenly shout or speak aloud from conviction or excitement. Psalm 19:14 the muttering and roaring processes result before the Lord.
How to Meditate
You can’t just know what meditation is, but you need to know how to meditate. Some people feel keeping quiet and thinking deep is meditate, rather meditation is:
- Separating yourself. A man of the spirit is a man that has learnt to separate
himself from noise and noise makers. Proverbs 18:1 the moment you separate yourself from noise, there will be an interwoven between knowledge and wisdom. 1 Thessalonian 4:11 your meditation can become your life.
- Commit to reading. There are so many lazy Christians that want God to answer their requests immediately.
2 Timothy 2:15 “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth”
Joshua 1:8.
- Dwell on a particular word or subject. You search the word of God concerning the area you want turnaround. Psalm 119: 148
- Confess it. Say it, keep saying it until your spirit absorbs it. John 13:4-5
You meditate with your mind, therefore, you speak the word and think the word.
